These are the Labradoodle and Aussiedoodle colors we’ve produced in the past. Obviously, not ever color is available in every litter. We’re happy to say we produce these colors in both our Aussiedoodles and our Labradoodles – including blue and red merles, so you don’t need to pick between the breeds just based on the color you like the most.
Blue Merle Color: The Blue Merles have lighter patches of blue and gray in a mottled or uneven speckled pattern. Some will have white patches as well.
The Merle gene dilutes pigment so merle dogs are actually a solid base color (usually red/brown or black). The Blue Merles base color is Black. To explain how the merle color works and in the most basic layman’s terms… the merle gene is basically like splashing bleach on a solid color and wherever it lands it causing the colors to become diluted. With merles this can includes the eyes, skin and nose as well as the coats colors.
The Red Merles: Are similar to Blue merles but their base color is red/brown. They have lighter patches of tan, red and sometimes white.
Eyes: Both color merles can have 2 solid eyes, marbled eyes (brown eyes with blue chips), split eyes (two or more colors split) or even one brown eye and one blue eye. Merles can have a solid brown or black colored noses or a freckled nose. Reds have brown noses and Blues are black.
The Phantom Colors: Phantom markings in dogs are similar to that seen in Dobermans. The color in Labradoodles and Aussiedoodles, originates from their Poodle lines. There are black, chocolate, apricot, red & silver and even phantom merles.
Phantom colored dogs have a solid base color with sharply defined markings of a second color appearing above each eye, on the sides of the muzzle, on the throat/ forechest, on all four legs and feet, and below the tail. Nose pigment depends on the solid base color.
The Solid Chocolate Colored Doodles: Chocolate Doodles are brown. There are different shades of brown though including Dark Brown, Cafe Aulait, Parchment and Silver Beige.
The Cafe’ Aulait Doodles: This color is a creamy beige chocolate color. It has been described as a cup of coffee with a generous addition of milk. These dogs are born milk chocolate and will develop their lighter chocolate coloring over time. The nose pigment is rose.
The Parchment Colored Doodles – This is a diluted brown, therefore a true silver beige Poodle is born brown. By 6 weeks, the lighter beige color will appear on the face and paws with a full coat change by the age of 2 years. The dog will have liver points and dark amber eyes.
The Bi and Tri Colored Doodles: Are exactly like it sounds. Bi’s are two colors and the Tri’s are 3 colors. We mostly produce the chocolate and white and black and white Bi colored Aussiedoodle puppies.
The Parti Colored Doodle: A parti colored Labradoodle or Aussiedoodle is at least 50% white, with patches of any other color including merle!
The Abstract Colored Doodle: Solid colored Labradoodles or Aussiedoodles with white markings. We produce abstracts in all of our solid colors and it basically just means they have abstract patches of white, usually on their chin, chest, toes or feet and sometimes a little on all 4 NOT to be confused with a true Bi which has more white on their head and face.
There are many beautiful shades and patterns of chocolate, beige and red in the Aussiedoodles and Labradoodle coats.
Like Blue Colored Doodles, Silvers are also born Black and do not start to show their silver coloring until 1-2 years old. It starts to show first in their faces.
