We’ve really enjoyed watching as their unique and sweet dispositions have started to develop over these past weeks!
I apologize in advance, this page will be a bit of a read but please make sure to read it ALL because everything is pretty important.
In order for things to go as smoothly as possible with your new puppy – preperation is key and can make a game changing difference in managing everyone’s stress during puppy’s first few weeks home.
Please arrive on time to your puppy pick up appointment!
We strongly urge you to get all the necessary shopping out of the way before bringing home your new puppy so you can focus all your time on bonding and training instead of running around trying to get everything together. Work smarter, not harder!! 👍
• Please visit one of our most popular pages on our website! Our “Recommended Puppy Products” page for a check list of everything you’ll need for your new puppy and all the products on that page.. I’ve already purchased and tested myself! So, it’s only the best stuff that I trust enough to recommend to our puppy families.
When your puppy was 4 weeks old, we started them on ~ Life’s Abundance “Small/Medium Breed Puppy” food and by 6 wks they’re able to eat it “dry” with no problems. You can moisten it with warm water if your puppy is being finicky the first few days home due to the normal stress puppies go through when in a totally new environment.
It is important to keep them on the food their used to while they’re adjusting to a new home, family, and daily routine. You don’t want to add any extra stress by switching their diet immediately, which will almost certainly result in tummy troubles and diarrhea.
I’ve done a LOT of research on dog food brands and formulas over the years and what to feed our breeding dogs and puppies, and hands down, Life’s Abundance has been the VERY best I’ve found for our boys and girls.
LIFE’S ABUNDANCE IS NOT AVAILABLE IN STORES.
Before you pick up your puppy, you’ll need to order the following dog food formula online:
• Order your Life’s Abundance – Small/Medium Breed Puppy Today!
Your puppy will eat approximately – 1¾ cups a day.
This should be broken up into 3 to 4 small meals a day, morning, lunch and dinner until at least 6 months old, at 6 months you can switch to a 2x a day schedule.
FEEDING AMOUNTS BY WEIGHT
4 to 10 lbs. needs 1 – 1¾ cups – A DAY
11 to 15 lbs. needs 1¾- 2¼ cups – A DAY
We recommend ordering the 20 lb bag of dog food which should last your approximately 49 days. We also recommend taking advantage of the autoship program and setting it to arrive every 7 wks. You can always change it if you need to. It takes about 4 days to arrive.
We can weigh each puppy on pickup day, so you’ll know approximently how much to offer your puppy each day. You’ll quickly figure it out by how much they normally eat. First week can be a little challenging because they tend to have a smaller appetite.
Pull up any left over food after 15-20 mins and do not offer more food until their next schedualed feeding time.
Eventually, they learn to eat when it’s time to eat and then you know better when they might need to go potty! WIN!
Alot of dogs and puppies will eat as much as you give them – even when they’re not hungry. So, try to stick to the recommended amounts for their weight/age on the dog food bag and feed them 3 or 4 smaller meals instead of one or two big ones.
Our medium/standard size Doodles usually reach their adult height by 8-10 months old. They may continue to fill out a bit more but most will reach their full height and weight by 12 months old.
Mini Doodles can mature even younger.
DREAMYDOODLES ADULT SIZE RANGES
These are approximate size ranges for our Dreamydoodles and will greatly depend on the parents of your puppy as well.
A dogs height is measured from the top of the front shoulder blades (the withers) to the floor. *not the top of their head.
Miniature Size Range: Height: 14 to 16 inches and 15-22 lbs
Medium/Moyen Size Range: Height 18-20 inches 35-40 lb range
Small Standard/Standard Size Range: Height 21-23 inches and 45-55 lbs
Follow the feeding chart on the back of the dog food for weight and age and offer only dime size treats when training. It’s really important not to overfeed a growing puppy, allowing them to get over-weight can cause some pretty painful and expensive health problems for them as adults.
Excessive growth, strenuous exercise, and improper weight and nutrition are all factors that can lead to many types of joint and health issues in all dog regardless if they’re pure breed or mixes.
We highly recommend and have been using the Nuvet Plus daily vitamin supplement for years and we 100% stand behind and trust this product and hope you take the time to look into it for yourself and continue to give it to your Dreamydoodle puppy — at-least the first 24 months..Read more about why we recommend Nuvet Plus and what’s in them here.

Doodles and Grooming go hand in hand. It’s the price we pay to own a beautiful, soft and non-shedding dog!
Since our Doodle kids don’t shed naturally – it’s important to be aware how often they will need to be groomed.
Labradoodles and Aussiedoodles both need to be professionally groomed approximately every 2 to 3 months.
How often also depends on how often you’re brushing them at home, their coat type and the clip you wanna keep them in. If you brush them out daily daily and keep them mat free, then you can grow their coats out much longer and go to the groomer far less. Matting can happen under the top fluff and are not always super obvious by just looking at them or petting them. Mats tug at their skin and can be very painful so, PLEASE make sure to check for mats often.
If you bathe your Doodle at home make sure to comb them out from root to tip with a Grooming Comb and then blow them totally dry. When a Doodle’s coat gets wet, if their not combed and dried properly it can cause the fur to mat together or cause currently small mats to get bigger and tighter.
You can basically use any type of dog shampoo and conditioner on your Doodle but I personally like the Earthbath, Bio-Groom or Burts Bees brands and for ear cleaner (which is also really important) there’s nothing better then Epi-Otic by Virbac.
Eventually, your Doodle is going to spend a lot of time on the grooming table during their lifetime so finding an experienced and caring DOODLE or POODLE groomer is super important because believe me… not all dog groomers are equally qualified when it comes to Doodle clips or care!
You want your Mini Aussiedoodle puppy to get used to all the sensations of being groomed as young as possible. You want their first few groomer visits to be short and sweet and hopefully a positive experience.
PLEASE wait until at least a week after your puppy’s final core vaccinations at 16 wks old to take them to the Groomer, then I recommend starting with just a bath and “sanitary clip” and nail clip. A “sanitary clip” is just a clip around their privates and usually includes a clip around their eyes and face and cleaning their ears. That’s all they really need at this age anyway.

We have a page you can read that has instructions on how to crate train your puppy in 7-14 days with 2 different crate training schedules. One for people who are home all day and one for people who work full time. The #1 key to potty training whether you crate train or not is getting them on a strict feeding/sleeping/eliminating schedule, so you know when they need to go outside! The schedules can easily be adapted to fit your own lifestyle.
How to Potty Train Your Puppy in 7 Days! Two Crate Training Schedules!
The purpose of create training is to use your puppies natural instincts to not go potty where they sleep to our advantage so, when potty training crate sizs is important..it needs to be just big enough for them to stand up, turn around and lay down without their head touching the top of the crate. If the crate is too big what can happen is they’ll make one end a bathroom and one end a bed. Every Midwest i-crate comes with a metal divider so you can easily make it bigger or smaller as your puppy grows.
CRATE SIZES for our medium – moyen and standard size puppies I recommend the 30 inch iCrate for crate training and will still fit some moyens into adulthood.
I recommend the 36 inch iCrate for our standard size adults. The 36 inch crate will also work for standard puppies too, you just need to use the divider panel until they’re potty trained.
MIDWEST 30 INCH I-CRATE DIMENSIONS: 30L x 21W x 24H Inche crate, is ideal for dogs w/adult weight of 26 – 40 pounds
MIDWEST 36 INCH I-CRATE DIMENSIONS: 36L x 23W x 25H inche crate, is ideal for dogs w/ adult weight of 41 – 70 pounds
