Labradoodles are sociable, friendly, non aggressive, and extremely intuitive. Their intelligence and high trainability makes the Labradoodle well suited for guide dogs, therapy dogs, and other assistance dogs. Their parent breeds are both amongst the world’s most intelligent dog breeds. Their non allergic coats make them popular among people who have not been able to enjoy pets because of their allergies. The Labradoodle breed is bound to become even more popular as more people learn about this lovable dog. Like most Labrador Retrievers and Poodles, Labradoodles are generally friendly, energetic and good with families and children (although as with any dog the temperament may vary between individuals). Labradoodles often display an affinity for water and strong swimming ability from their parent breeds.
Initially, many people are confused by the use of terms such as F1, F1b, F2, etc… These are genetic terms referring to how the two breeds were crossed. An F1 (or first generation) is a Poodle bred to a Labrador Retriever. The resulting puppies are 50% Poodle and 50% Retriever. An F1b is also referred to as a Backcross. In this case, an F1 is bred back to a Poodle. The puppies are 75% Poodle and 25% Retriever. The multigen can be multiple crossings of generations but in my breeding program it is an F1B female bred to our Multigen stud Hershey
We held Tippy back from our Spring 2011 F1 Labradoodle litter from Daisy and Bo and we are so glad we did. Tippy produced the prettiest chocolate Labradoodle puppies! She is so smart and sweet and a wonderful Mother. Tippy is also a crack up with a very happy full of life personality. If you just look her way she wags her tail and gets happy… and if you say her name well she might just explode with happiness. It’s a crack up. She follows me from room to room all day long and loves to see what’s going on with the kids. She waits at the window right around 3:30 for the buss to come.. and how she knows it’s about to be 3:30 well that I will never understand. Just another clue into how smart these doodle dogs really are. They can even tell time!! Haha! Tippy’s puppies coats look nothing like hers. They’re more of a fleece texture with looser curls and can grow longer in length. Tippy does not shed and either do her puppies.
Tippy and my daughter Olivia playing in the kitchen.. she is trying to do whatever Olivia asks of her as fast as she knows how.. so funny!
Tippy is a F1 Labradoodle and Patrick is a AKC Standard Poodle
Grand Sire is an AKC Chocolate Lab “Bo”: Bo is a beautiful AKC chocolate lab with an amazing dark deep chocolate coat which complimented our Daisy’s coloring perfectly. He has a very blocky head which is what you look for in a well bred Lab. He has a very calm and sweet disposition. He is extremely smart and willing to please. He comes from wonderful Lab blood lines.. Bo is from “Sergeant Lucky Ruger”  and ” Allies Lady Luck”. Bred by the Lehnherr family. His line can be traced back 20 generations, coming out of Germany, with field champions and others. Bo was the Sire who started our amazing Labradoodle bloodline. He put the Lab in our Doodles.
Grand Dam is AKC Standard Poodle “Miss Daisy” Daisy is a 45 pound chocolate poodle. She is considered a small standard in height she is only 21 inches which is measured from the floor to the top of her shoulder. She is incredibly smart, loving and one of the best dogs I’ve ever known. Daisy is our brood bitch. She is the start of the Dreamydoodle bloodlines for both my Aussiedoodles and my Labradoodles breeding programs.
Daisy has been retired but her bloodlines will be carried on in our program hopefully for years to come. She is an excellent female.
The difference between a first generation Labradoodle also known as the F1 Labradoodle and the F1B or Multigen Labradoodle is like night and day. They look like two completely different dog breeds in most cases. So learning the difference between the Labradoodle generations is very important when looking for your new Labradoodle puppy. They’re all fluffy and cute as puppies but will look completely different as adults. It is important that you do your research and learn the differences in the Labradoodle generations. The F1B Labradoodle is the MOST likely of any generation to be non shedding and Allergy friendly and is the easiest coat to take care of.
The F1b generation Labradoodle is when you breed a first generation Labradoodle with a Standard poodle. Since the first generation Labradoodle are known to have a higher chance of shedding and can have more of a course wiry type coat or even an in between coarse and curly coat that can easily mat, the F1 Labradoodle is bred with a Poodle to “correct the coat” issues. The F1b generation can favor more of a poodle type coat with a wavy/curly fleece and sometimes wool coat but still retains the unique Labradoodle look but with more of a Teddy Bear look rather then a wolf hound look. Many F1b’s have thick, soft hair that is wavy to curly. They’re often frosted or highlighted in color. Their size often varies between 55-65lbs. They do not shed* and are the closest it comes to being a “hypo allergenic” dog.  They’re highly intelligent and friendly. They’re often used as seeing-eye dogs and service dogs because of their incredible intelligence and their size and strength. F1b’s are the most sought after generation. The F1B generation is still close enough in the breeding tree to benefit from hybrid vigour.  With each successive generation vigour is lost.
“Hi Barbara! I hope you are feeling better. I wanted to send along some photos. The first one is Porter playing with his new favorite toy. It’s an elephant named Ele. I say “get Ele” and he finds her and starts his attack. Super cute and smart! The third picture was right after his vet visit. He did so well and the vet said he was well socialized. He said hi to everyone and wasn’t afraid at all. He sat still for the vet and didn’t even flinch at his shots. He is already 10lbs and of course super healthy! The rest of the pics are of his first night here. He’s adjusted so well. Typical puppy schedule…eat, potty, play, sleep and repeat. He’s only had 3 accidents, all of which were number ones and had I known how to read his body language better, probably wouldn’t have happened. On the training side he potties outside regularly and seems to be getting the concept. There’s even a towel we keep at the door to wipe his feet and he know proudly hops on it as soon as we walk in the door. He makes sure to look up at me like, “look mom, I got it!” He then waits for me to wipe his feet. Sooo cute! We’re gonna work on bell training today! He has woken up in the middle of the night both nights but, only to tell us he needs to go out. He’s walking on his leash well too! Thank you so much Barbara for bringing Porter into our lives! We love him so much and can’t wait to watch him grow! Our home is now dotingly named Porter’s Palace. : ) Sincerely, Porter’s Parents Katie and Jamie” “I have one of Tippy and Hershey’s puppies from this summer’s litter and she is an awesome puppy! Great personality and an amazing coat. She NEVER mats! My other labradoodle needs to go to the groomer about every 6 weeks but Murphy has not had to go yet and she is six months old!!! When I took her to the vet to get spayed they were amazed at her coat And at what a great temperament she had!!! Barbara does a wonderful job with these dogs…..you won’t regret your purchase!!! I wish I could get another one right now!!!”
“Hi Barbara! Well we have been home for a week now and I wanted to let you know how awesome Murphy is doing!!! I can’t believe how smart this little girl is!!! She has not had too many “accidents” in the house and is doing wonderfully with her potty training. She pretty much sleeps through the night in her crate and on a couple of nights made it until 4:30 otherwise she sleeps until at least 6:30. She is so easy to take care of compared to our last Doodle Puppy which was no where near as well adjusted….still isn’t at two years old! I take Murphy to work with me everyday and she is so good with her behavior and with the kids and parents! When I tell her no she totally knows what I’m saying! Everyone comments on what a great puppy she is and they are totally impressed with her!! My only dilemma is that my older doodle is too rough with Murphy and I can’t let them even play together. Bailey wants to play rough and bite her neck….sometimes I think it might not be playing. So I really don’t let them have too much contact for now. I put their crates next to each other and I will hold Murphy so Bailey can sniff her but that’s it until she gets big enough to defend herself. Bailey, I’m convinced is a “special” dog and not sure what to do about it!! A blind man could see the difference between the two and I’m sure its in the breeding. Until I got Murphy I thought maybe I was the problem but now I know that’s not the case. I read every book I could get my hands on…..to no avail. Anyway good or bad I love them both to pieces!” Thanks for such an awesome new family member!
Thank you for checking in! Rio is doing awesome, my son and him have such a special bond. One of the main factors of deciding to get a Labradoodle was because I am allergic to dogs. My allergies have been perfect around Rio, he absolutely does not shed and I suspect he has very low dander if I am not experiencing any allergic reaction around him. I love his coat, it is a balance between curly and wavy. We get so many compliments on how handsome Rio is but most of all, he is the most sweetest puppy I have ever been around. He comes into the office with me everyday and I have to say he has touched a lot of people’s hearts and has made a ton of friends. He has been very easy to train which was very important to me since he does come to the office with me and encounters different people everyday. We started with crate training at night and now he sleeps in my son’s room on his own bed. I have had no issues with chewing things he is not suppose to, potty training was a cake walk and no anxiety issues, he’s laid back and very patient. I will say he is a big boy, probably 60- 65 lbs already! I think he is a special pup and one of best decisions I made for my son and I! Hilda
